Clean Dirt

Item is currently Out of Stock.

Clean Dirt: A Memoir by Johnnie Mae Gibson, Special Agent is an account of the career of the first African American woman to be assigned as a field office supervisory special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the fifth Black woman agent in the history of the FBI, the most elite law enforcement agency in the world. In Clean Dirt, Gibson gives the reader unprecedented access to the offices where life and death decisions are made and to the streets where criminals are hunted. It pulls back the veil of secrecy that has protected the FBI from scrutiny since the days of J. Edgar Hoover. It is a story of endurance, personal sacrifice and workplace discrimination. A critical witnessing of the mismanagement of high profile investigations and backroom deals that unfortunately has come to characterize the FBI. Clean Dirt is the first book to tell what it was really like being a Black woman working in a white male dominated macho culture, many whom felt women and minorities didn’t belong in this elite agency, had little respect for rules or responsibility and used the cover of the FBI to commit unlawful and sometimes violent acts.

The Complete Guide to Hiring Law Enforcement Officers

The primary purpose of this book is to provide a model hiring process which identifies successful law enforcement officer candidates.  This research study provides an overview on all of the major components of the selection process for hiring officers.  It is a how-to manual on hiring successful law enforcement officers.

This 240 page study guide analyzes the entry-level assessment center method for police hiring, which has been proven effective through various research studies.  This methodology focuses on evaluating successful job-related behaviors and traits.  The Entry Level Assessment Center uses simulated situations to evaluate job related behaviors and traits the law enforcement officers are required to display on the job.  This allows for observation to evaluate how they would perform in the target position.  This book is the only tool of its kind in the law enforcement profession nationwide. The document also provides government officials with the fundamental principles and guidelines for hiring entry-level law enforcement officers.  It may be utilized by all law enforcement agencies regardless of size or type.  Some of the chapters include Selection Criteria for Law Enforcement Officers, Written Examination, Physical Fitness Testing, Oral Interview, Background Investigation and Polygraph Examination.
